What I write here is for fun, a "what if Wen Chao survived" au without changing much of the story and does NOT count to all the verses.
Even if your muse's name is mentioned and our writing follows this au I will NOT demand of you to follow what I wrote.We can plot something else.

A small resume of my Wen Chao's timeline for your and my comfort since idk my brain doesn't let him just exist.
Which adaptation does it follow?
It mostly follows the manhua's plot with book and donghua crumbs.When does it diverge ?
In chapter 172 when LWJ block WWX's way.(1)Immediately
LWJ insists WWX goes back to gusu even more, creating a small window for WZL to run away with WC.
- WZL's arm is broken, not completely ripped off.(2)
- WC's burn wounds are less severe but sh + fierce corpse!lingjiao's damage is about the same.(3)Few days after
WC gave up on trying to go back to qishan. The two focused on trying to get as far away as possible.After the war
Considering WC's state last time he was seen, it's assumed he died not long after their encounter.
In reality the two settle down under new names in a small faraway village.How did WC get his sect back ?
One can only stay hidden for so long.
NHS is the one that first finds and contacts them to “ see how they are doing now ” with the excuse the war had been a long time ago and maybe they had a change of heart.
When in reality he wanted to take back jgy's title of “ the one that killed the last wen. ”
After initial pushback they decided to keep the two alive to make WC live with what he did and not forget and hide away, where people can point at him and laugh.
And so they were thrown in the Nightless City's broken down main house.
Which he kind of deserved.How did more people get there ?_
It started as a joke to throw unwanted children and teens for the two to figure out how to deal with them but they actually managed to keep them all alive and somewhat fed.
NHS “ found unfair they were all cramped up ” and the Wen were allowed a little more land in Qishan to house these people.Money?
Both Wzl and the taken-in people worked outside of qishan in the very start before making their own small plantations and small business, selling the goods outsideTraining?
Wc was not properly trained and wzl has another training, the wen are not allowed to have weapons either way.
yet another joke is to send them demonic cultivation artifacts to freak wc out. they are kept somewhere he can’t see or "hear"
Headcanons
- He often suffers with chronic pain on his legs (inspired on myself)
- He's unable to run and walk for too long.
- Bi with female leaning.
- Likes crossdressing in secret-
- Still can't eat meat and has protein deficiency because of it
- Wears gloves to hide his scars most of the time.
- Can't swim lol
- Surprisingly he showers more now.
- Wen Ruohan counted his birth as one year since he was a frail baby and if he died young it would make it seem that he lived longer.

Mei Ling - 美玲
- The first one that got sent there.
- Got kicked out of home for "being disrespectful" towards her father.
- Currently the Wen's main tailor, gets her fabric off corpses.
- Sassytm
- She's the only that can sew well and quickly enough so she gets away with being rude.
Zhu Mingze (朱茗泽)
- Used to be friends with Wen Chao in the small village.
- Only that found out his identity before Nie Huaisang.
Only did so because he walked in to bring groceries when Wen Chao was having a panic attack and heard Wen Zhuliu calling his name out.
- Very friendly!
- May or may not have been WC's gay awakening.
- Fruity.
- The current image doesn't make him justice
Zhu Xiù (朱秀)
- Grandma.
- Didn't know who Wen Chao was until he got called out.
- Her grandson moved there so she did too since Wen Chao had been nice to her and her grandson in the past.
Wen Chouyan - 温抽煙
- Wen Chao's legitimate son.
- Was about 1 year old.
- He was born very red like he was angry and smoke (chōuyān - 抽煙) would come out his ears
- Was sent away with a servant when they closed into Nightless City to reassure his safety as his mother burned anything that belonged to him to hide about his existence.
